In the cloud, ready for the future
TESS has significant ambitions within digital innovation and service development. After successfully migrating to the cloud, the possibilities are wide open, allowing TESS to realize its full potential.
About TESS
TESS is a total supplier of equipment, tools, and machinery for the construction industry, public sector, and oil and gas industry. With an annual turnover of 4.7 billion NOK and 1,200 employees in both Norwegian and international subsidiaries, TESS wanted to lay the foundation for growth and innovation while reducing costs.
Combining innovation and cost focus led to the conclusion of cloud-based solutions - but there was an increasing technical debt as a starting point. The necessity of migrating to the cloud became clear in order to support these ambitions.
Objective
Accelerate digitisation, reduce costs
Choosing Itera as their collaborative partner aimed at avoiding further investments in technical debt in the short term. Furthermore, based on a modernized and robust digital core at TESS as a basis for continuous innovation, they aimed to drive growth and innovation through IT.
In the first stage, Itera carried out a "Lite discovery and assessment" - an effective activity to assess the current state of IT infrastructure and applications with regards to migration into the cloud. The assessment proposes a timeline for a safe and predictable migration process with budgets for migration and operational management of the migrated solution.
With a good overview of the current situation and goals, TESS and Itera began migrating all of TESS' systems and applications.
A stronger business core
After a successful migration, TESS can conclude that the migration has not only been about IT technical changes but also about new ways of working for IT:
"Through collaboration with Itera, TESS' IT department has demonstrated maturity and understanding of the digital journey, and they have had good collaboration and dialogue throughout the project phases," says Bjørnar Engebretsen, Head of Cloud & Application Services at Itera.
TESS is now well-positioned for continuous improvement and innovation and to realize its growth ambitions. The successful migration to the cloud opens up further opportunities to modernize and digitize TESS' processes, laying the foundation for a digital core for innovation and growth.
"The expertise provided by Itera has been an invaluable resource throughout our cloud journey. Their team has shown deep knowledge and passion for moving and modernizing our core infrastructure seamlessly," says Joachim Thorkildsen, Digital Development Coordinator at TESS.
