Empowering energy storage solutions
Capture Energy, a leader in energy storage solutions, specialises in end-to-end turnkey energy storage solutions, enabling forward-thinking customers to benefit from opportunities in the flexibility market rapidly, safely, and sustainable. As a digitalization partner, Itera enhances Capture Energy's operational performance through digital solutions.
The project in brief
Itera develops Capture Energy's cloud platform, including an asset management, customer, and monitoring portal. These portals enable remote monitoring and real-time data access to boost system uptime and efficiency. The goal is to ensure that customers leverage the highest income on their equipment, including benchmarking tools between different markets and aggregators.
About Capture Energy
Capture Energy, founded in 2023, delivers large-scale battery energy storage systems and energy management technology that can help businesses and communities achieve their sustainability goals, as well as gain new revenue streams.
The company operates from Sweden and is represented in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, but it delivers to all European countries. Capture Energy has focused on two of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals: "9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure" and "17. Partnerships for the Goals."

Understanding the flexibility market
An innovative battery solution
Capture Energy has introduced an advanced battery system that seamlessly integrates with the power grid, designed to cater to the specific needs of industries with high electricity consumption. This system allows their customers to strategically utilize the battery storage during periods of high electricity demand and costs, thereby providing an economical alternative to grid power.
Customers can draw energy from the battery system when electricity availability is constrained or prices peak. This system is engineered to recharge when electricity is more abundant and less expensive, ensuring an efficient energy management cycle.
If the battery's charge is depleted, it can be conveniently recharged using the power grid at opportune moments when electricity rates are lower.
Through Capture Energy’s energy management system, the Capture Controller, the process of putting a BESS on the market is simplified. This is done by performing direct integrations with batteries, inverters, and aggregators as well as sensors required to deliver flexibility services as well as taking responsibility for the whole BESS project: from ideation, application, and planning, to installation and commissioning and later operation and service. The Capture Controller is also connected to the cloud, where Itera enters the picture.

Digital monitoring for enhanced operational performance
Additionally, we are developing an internal monitoring tool for Capture Energy’s employees, allowing them to access real-time data and the insight they need to deploy, monitor and optimize the BESS.
This system's versatility extends to load balancing and is a reliable backup solution. It contributes to a stable power supply while facilitating cost optimization, and it encompasses a broad spectrum of applications beyond mere cost savings.
Leveraging technologies such as part of the Microsoft Azure Cloud Services (i.e. IoT Hub, timeseries databases, security, authentication) ensured efficient sensor data integration, leading to optimal system performance.
This project also highlights the importance of continuous learning and adaptation. Our feedback loops have been instrumental in refining our approaches and ensuring seamless implementation of advanced technological solutions that benefit both parties involved.
