Improving operational efficiency with Generative AI
Recent advancements in generative AI have led forward-thinking companies like BAHR, one of Norway's Tier 1 law firms, to be proactive in exploring how technology such as LLM-models can be used to increase value creation, improve operational efficiencies, and solidify their competitive advantage.
Areas of expertise
Data, AI & Analytics
In collaboration with Itera, the firm introduced a chatbot named Bahrry to their employees in September 2023, a specialized AI-driven digital assistant built on Azure Open AI Services. Bahrry can enhance operational efficiency through the power of generative AI and paves the way for using even more time and effort toward providing additional value to their clients.
Since Open AI introduced Chat GPT in November 2022, shareholders, company management, employees and clients have discussed how large language models (LLM) can revolutionize industries and reshape work practices. Undoubtedly, the business world is undergoing significant transformations due to the rapid innovation in AI. While some companies are still debating whether to allocate AI investments in next year's budget, others have already implemented AI solutions to augment their productivity and gain a competitive advantage. One such visionary company is BAHR, located in Oslo and Bergen.
A need for better access to information
Lawyers and law firms handle an immense volume of documents and data as part of their daily operations. These documents are typically extensive, containing confidential information, written in various languages, formats, and file types. Processing this information and extracting relevant and valuable insights is a time-consuming endeavor.
This is why the idea of Bahrry was born. Bahrry is a customized AI-driven digital assistant for lawyers integrated into Bahr's business systems to streamline document processing, facilitate information retrieval, and handle complex legal questions by processing internal data. This is accomplished while maintaining control over the data flow and ensuring reliable protection of sensitive information.
The creation of Bahrry
To build Bahrry it was essential to have the relevant domain-insights and technological expertise. By using the latest infrastructure components from Microsoft, Itera and BAHR developed a powerful back-office companion for all the lawyers at the firm. And Bahrry has superpowers; it can upload and handle vast amount of data, translate vast information to and from most language in seconds, and new integrations and AI features can be developed on top of existing systems. Since Bahrry is built to deal with confidential information, data governance mechanisms have been implemented to ensure that data stays in the company’s systems.
Apart from providing intelligent responses on legal questions, Bahrry also offers its users a “company feel” and seamless user experience through its tailor-made User Interface (UI).
To improve efficiency, BAHR employees can now adopt an “AI-first strategy” to prioritize interactions with Bahrry. By significantly reducing the time and effort required to search, analyze, and extract valuable information from large volumes of text, Bahrry can potentially yield time and resource savings, enhance productivity, and improve decision-making processes.
– BAHR uses modern technology and AI solutions to assist in daily tasks. It is important because we need to continue delivering competitive services, high productivity and high quality. Itera has supported us in this process and impressed us by being proactive and solutions-oriented. We have brainstormed and collaborated together on how we as a law firm can utilize AI better and become more data-driven in our work.
