New portal for "My Red Cross"

Itera has developed a new digital platform based on Microsoft Power Platform for Red Cross. This project represents a significant step in modernising Red Cross's application portfolio, both for their CRM solution and volunteer activities.

The project in brief

Through this initiative, Red Cross demonstrates how modern technology can support volunteer efforts by creating effective digital tools for managing information and activities. With iterative development led by experts from Itera on Microsoft's Power Platform, the collaboration between the two organizations showcases the future digital landscape within the charity sector.

About Red Cross

Red Cross helps people in Norway and internationally. They aim to ensure rapid, effective, and relevant emergency assistance worldwide in case of natural disasters, armed conflict, or other crisis situations. Local Red Cross associations can be found in almost every municipality in Norway, offering a variety of humanitarian activities that individuals can participate in as volunteers.

Web portal for volunteers

"My Red Cross" is an online portal where volunteers can update contact information, course details, certificates, as well as register activities and roles. This portal has been built using Microsoft Power Pages with a core principle of utilizing standard components wherever possible.

The digital transformation enables volunteers to keep track of their engagement with Red Cross from initial contact to active service. The portal provides a user-friendly overview of tasks in the onboarding process, keeps track of engagements, competencies, and memberships while also granting access to necessary documents that can be signed digitally.

A multidisciplinary delivery from Itera

For our client Red Cross, we formed a multidisciplinary team consisting of Power Platform architects, front-end developers, Scrum Masters and QA specialists. The Itera team has had technical responsibility for the entire web portal, including further development of data models, security setup, authentication, automated workflows, and front-end interfaces.

By using agile methodology and Azure DevOps for documentation and project management, Itera operated as an integrated part of the project organisation. The team's influence also extended into architectural decisions shaping the technical solution.

Itera's delivery team worked closely with the rest of the project organisation to ensure that the "My Red Cross" portal functions optimally for both users and administrators within established framework conditions.

The upgrade of Red Cross's CRM system from an on-premise solution to cloud-based Dynamics 365 has been a primary focus in the first phase. Itera's delivery has been central to this project through developing the "My Red Cross" portal.
